REDLANDS - UC Santa Cruz saw their two-game win streak broken as they dropped a 61-49 game Monday afternoon to Redlands on the second-game of a three-game roadtrip.
UCSC (5-6) fell to the Bulldogs for the second time in 19 days. UCSC stayed close to the hosts early, but the Bulldogs (6-2) went on a 12-0 run after it was tied at 9-9. grabbing a 21-9 lead with 7:52 left in the first and never trailing again. UCSC was within 10 (29-19) at halftime, but Redlands matched their shooting in the second half to hold the Banana Slugs at bay.
Redlands shot 24-52 (46.2%) from the field, compared to UCSC hitting 15-47 (31.9%). The Bulldogs outrebounded UCSC 42-26 in the game. The Banana Slugs finish their roadtrip when they play Simpson (Iowa) tomorrow afternoon in the X Invitational held at San Diego City College.
