The final game of the 2019 Slugfest featured tough defense throughout with only 12 shots combined in the 110 minutes (7 by the Loggers). UCSC had a pair of chances in overtime; after a long run, Ben Blackfield had his shot parried away 2:25 into the first overtime, while James Allison had the last good attempt with a curving 30-yarder with 6:53 left in the second overtime, but another big save by the Loggers' Ethan Stern-Ellis pushed it over the bar for a corner kick.
The Banana Slugs step up and play four Division II opponents in the next few weeks, starting Friday night in Seaside in a "Battle of the Bay" showdown with undefeated Cal State Monterey Bay.
