Men’s soccer finish Southern California trip with goalless draw at Chapman

ORANGE (10-28) 110 minutes was not enough to separate UC Santa Cruz and Chapman, as the two old rivals finished in a goalless draw on Monday afternoon.

UC Santa Cruz (7-6-3) outshot the hosts 17-11. After last year's meeting was cancelled for lightning, it's the third consecutive official meeting between the two schools that has ended in a tie.

The Banana Slugs had the last good chance two minutes into the first overtime. After Ben Blackfield got open on the right, he cut in and split two defenders to find Kailas Dhond inside the box, but the final shot was smothered by Chapman's goalie.

Andrew Pimentel had three saves to secure his sixth shutout of the season.

UCSC returns home for one last warmup before this weekend's ACAA Tournament when they host Dominican on Wednesday afternoon. There will be a Halloween Costume contest.
